Ever believe that living with diabetes means sacrificing the foods (and desserts) you love? When I was first diagnosed with type one diabetes, I thought that meant sweets and treats were off limits – a common stigma among the community.
It seems like stories of adult diagnosed with T1D are becoming more and more common. As someone who was diagnosed with T1D as a young adult, I know how much it can change the course of our lives.

Traveling with diabetes is hard, and for a long time, I let myself believe it was impossible. However, after eight years of living with this condition I’ve learned that the only thing that will ever hold me back is myself.
It’s no secret that living with diabetes can distort our relationship with food. Whether it’s looking at the amount of carbs constantly, the blood sugar trend or just associating your food with a number – it can be pretty damaging. So the balance becomes, how can we enjoy the things we love while balancing the blood sugar strategy?
